To get to the falls, you only have a short hike of just over two miles from the visitor parking area. If you want to get down to the bottom of the falls for an even closer view, there is a trail that will take you down. Spring is the best time to see the Falls, because this is the time of year when the snow from the surrounding mountains starts to melt, so the water is flowing even more than usual. 

Emerald Bay State Park 

If you are into the serene appearance of a beautiful natural lake, you do not want to miss Emerald Bay State Park. Through the summer months, an ideal temperature of around 75 degrees provides the perfect atmosphere to take in the sites around the Emerald Bay or walk one of the many trails. To get down to the bay, you can park at the Vikingsholm parking lot and walk, but the trip is a short one at about a mile from the parking area. 

Inspiration Point 

Tracking down a picturesque view from a higher elevation in Lake Tahoe is fairly easy, but few get as many visitors as Inspiration Point in the El Dorado National Forest along the southern portion of the lake. From this point in the forest, you get a view of both Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe, depending on which access point you take to get to the overlook. The beauty of the view is astounding whether you visit in the spring, fall, winter, or summer seasons, so bring along a camera so you can capture a few good shots.
